Arai Craft is located in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata prefecture, towns with a long history in making knives and cutting tools. Our kitchen knives have supreme sharpness and are based on Japanese traditional techniques that have been passed down over generations.

      Japanese knives are fashioned by techniques that were originally developed for making katana (samurai swords) over 1000 years ago. Today, continuing the Samurai sword tradition, Japanese blade smiths are producing knives of the highest quality in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata. The legacy and unforgettable sharpness of the katana still lives on in the heart of the modern kitchen.

      Tsubame-Sanjo has a long history of producing cutting tools. From the year 1685, people produced kitchen knives. Our predecessors studied and improved their techniques over many generations. It has been passed down to the present and transformed to cutlery manufacturing techniques.
